Miguel M. de la O & David E. Marko have been chosen, for the second year in a row, to the Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite - a distinguished group made up of less than 2 % of Florida's lawyers. All honorees will be listed in the July 2006 issue of the "Florida Trend" magazine.
This is Miguel's third year, and David's second, receiving this prestigious recognition. The selection is made by Florida Bar members submitting a ballot naming lawyers held in the highest regard.

David E. Marko speaks out on Affordable Housing for returning veterans
Twice this week, in the Daily Business Review, David E. Marko, Chairman of the Veterans Homeownership Task Force, spoke out on the issue of affordable housing generally, and for returning veterans specifically. The Homeownership program will assist the Iraq war veterans in purchasing their first homes, which they otherwise may not have qualified for due to job loss and issues of affordability in the growing real estate market.

Miguel M. de la O elected Vice-Chair of Florida Board of Bar Examiners
Miguel M. de la O has been elected to serve as Vice-Chair of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners for 2005- 2006 and will be the Chair for the 2006-2007 term. The Florida Board of Bar Examiners is an administrative arm of the Supreme Court of Florida created by the Court to handle all matters related to bar admission, including screening all applicants for character and fitness before admission to the Florida Bar in order to protect the public and safeguard the judicial system. The 15 members of the Board are selected by the Justices of the Florida Supreme Court to serve five year terms.
D&M files suit on behalf of Blind Voters of Volusia County
De la O & Marko and Brown, Goldstein & Levy, LLP (of Maryland) filed suit yesterday against Volusia County on behalf of the National Federation of the Blind, its Florida Affialiate, and five Volusia County blind voters, for the county's failure to implement accessible voting machines for the blind.
